As an adult, I discovered something about myself…
After delving into the realm of holistic speech therapy, I discovered I was dealing with an oral-motor disorder I didn’t know I had: “tongue tie.”
No one ever knew (including me!) because it didn’t affect my speech. But looking back at my life, it made sense. Growing up, I was a mouth breather, had dental issues, underwent orthodontic treatment, and had persistent back pain.
I couldn’t believe I had never pinpointed the issue… and I was a speech-language pathologist!
That got me thinking…
What might my patients be dealing with that had been overlooked by the industry?
What structural elements of the mouth might be behind their symptoms?
Were other people suffering because they hadn’t discovered “the missing link”?
I think of how my life dramatically turned after I got a frenoplasty to release my tongue…
I wanted to ensure my patients had an accurate diagnosis and viable treatment options to help them live better.
Some of my education, training, and background…
I got my bachelor’s, master’s, and medical certificate in speech pathology from the University of Central Florida. My studies focused on the medical anatomy and physiology of speaking.
I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology and am a licensed and board-certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). I am licensed in California, Florida, and Nevada.
Many of my certificates and training set me apart from traditional speech pathologists, including Feeding Certificate, Orofacial Myology, Buteyko Breathing, DDTC, Feed the Peds, Talk Tools Level III, PROMPT Level II Certification, Beckman Oral-Motor Disorders, Hanen Program, PECS level II certification, MindWing Story Grammar Marker, Lively Letters, and MyoMembership.
I’ve been in the field for over 20 years, working in public and private school systems, specializing in articulation, phonology, language disorders, fluency, augmentative communication, social communication, and early intervention.

When I’m not doing speech therapy…
…I’m learning about it! I’m always looking for educational opportunities to enhance my clients’ speech and health.
But when I’m not doing that, I enjoy quality time with my husband and our cherished canine companion, Taco.
