Enrolling in therapy is as easy as 1-2-3!
1 – Schedule a Free Consultation
If we don’t answer right away leave us a message, we’re probably helping another client and will get back to you as soon as possible!
At your consultation, we will talk about what goals you have and the challenges you are facing. We want to learn about you and determine if we are a good fit for therapy.
2 – Schedule an Evaluation
Evaluating is crucial as it helps us figure out the type and amount of therapy that would work best!
During this phase, we’ll explore your needs and concerns on a deeper level to gather the information necessary to create a customized plan of care. This plan is designed to help achieve the best possible results from treatment.
Think of it as establishing a starting point! Keeping track of the current level of functioning adds a fun aspect to the therapy process. It allows us to see how they are progressing and helps us figure out which methods are working well, and which ones might need a little tweaking.
3 – Determine a Treatment Plan
Next, we will go over testing results and create goals that we want to work on in therapy and its time to schedule your sessions!
We’ll pick regular day(s) and time(s) for us to work together. This is your chance to shine!
We encourage active participation in the therapeutic process by attending sessions consistently and applying what is learned at home.
This consistency contributes to the best possible results.
How are online sessions structured?
Teletherapy caters to ALL different age groups.
Whether your child is just starting to talk or navigating adolescence, teletherapy is designed to fit their needs.
Let’s dive into how online sessions work at each stage of development.
Parent Coaching: Approximate Ages 0-4:
For the youngest participants, ages 0 to 4, teletherapy often involves a collaborative effort with parents taking an active role. In these sessions, parents become the primary participants, engaging in educational and supportive activities designed to promote their child’s communication skills. The therapist guides parents through techniques and strategies, empowering them to continue therapy seamlessly when the therapist isn’t physically present. This approach not only facilitates early intervention but also establishes a strong foundation for communication development.
Parent Assistance: Approximate Ages 4-10:
As children gain independence between the ages of 4 and 10, teletherapy evolves to include more direct interaction with the child. While parents remain crucial participants, the focus shifts toward fostering the child’s ability to engage in therapy on a one-on-one basis. Parents are encouraged to take a supportive role, staying in the background and intervening only when necessary. The transition aims to build the child’s confidence and self-reliance during sessions. Parents may join in the last few minutes to discuss progress or concerns, ensuring a collaborative approach that optimizes the child’s development.
Individualized: Approximate Ages 10 and up:
For participants aged 10 and above, teletherapy becomes increasingly individualized. Both the child and parent have the flexibility to choose their level of involvement. Independent attendance is encouraged, allowing the child to actively participate in sessions without the need for parental assistance. Homework assignments and practice exercises can be carried out autonomously, and questions can be addressed independently. While communication about the session’s progress is still encouraged, it becomes optional for those aged 18 and under, recognizing the growing independence and responsibility of older participants. Teletherapy adapts to the changing dynamics of adolescence, offering a platform for self-driven progress and support when needed.
